Maruti Suzuki Exports Over 6,000 e-Vitara SUVs in Two Months
Maruti Suzuki has exported more than 6,000 units of its first electric SUV eVitara in just two months, with Europe and the UK emerging as key markets.

Maruti Suzuki’s first battery-electric SUV, the eVitara, was unveiled globally almost a year ago. Exports of the India-made SUV began in August, and the company has now announced that within just two months, 6,068 units have been shipped from its Hansalpur plant in Gujarat to various international markets.

The first batch of eVitara SUVs, comprising over 2,900 units, was shipped to Europe and the UK. In total, 6,068 vehicles were exported in August and September, with Germany, Norway, France, Denmark, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Hungary, Iceland, Austria, and Belgium among the early recipients.

The Hansalpur plant in Gujarat has now become the global production hub for the eVitara. The facility is equipped with a multimodal automobile cargo terminal directly connected to the Mundra and Pipavav ports, ensuring efficient exports to international markets. The plant will also cater to the Japanese domestic market, further highlighting its strategic importance.

This export milestone follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Gujarat plant on August 26, where he flagged off the eVitara production and praised Maruti Suzuki as a ‘Make in India’ brand ambassador. The eVitara is built on Suzuki’s new HEARTECT-e platform and is the company’s first SUV specifically designed for electric powertrains. It will be available in single- and dual-motor configurations, including the 49kWh and 61kWh single-motor variants and the 61kWh dual-motor variant.

Alongside exports, the eVitara is being prepared for a launch in India. It will enter the fast-growing midsize electric SUV segment, taking on competitors such as the Tata Curvv.ev, Hyundai Creta EV, and MG ZS EV.
