Chennai-based startup Raptee.HV will begin commercial production and supply of its high-voltage electric motorcycle T30 from November this year. The company has already received advance orders for nearly 8,000 units.
Raptee.HV is the first Indian EV motorcycle manufacturer to receive financial support from the Technology Development Board (TDB), Department of Science & Technology, which earlier supported Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin. The company has applied high-voltage (HV) technology from electric cars into two-wheelers.
According to Dinesh Arjun, CEO and Co-founder of Raptee.HV, “We will start delivering bikes to customers from November. Initially, production will scale up slowly to 300 units per month. Our current capacity is 1,500 units per month, which can be expanded to 9,000 units per month or 100,000 units annually.”
The company had earlier secured a ₹3.25 crore non-dilutive grant from ARAI-AMTIF in 2021. “High-voltage motorcycles are our USP. We received certification for the motorcycle this February and plan to launch it officially in October,” Arjun added.
So far, Raptee.HV has raised $5 million in pre-Series A funding and is in the process of closing a $20 million Series A round through a mix of debt and equity. The startup aims to expand into 60 cities within three years and 100 cities by the fourth year, focusing on Tier I and Tier II markets.
With motorcycles accounting for nearly two-thirds of India’s two-wheeler market, their electrification is considered vital to achieving the government’s 2030 target of 30% EV penetration in the segment.
