In a significant move set to reshape India’s hospitality landscape, Marriott International has announced a strategic partnership with CG Hospitality, the hospitality arm of CG Corp Global, to launch Series by Marriott—a new brand targeting midscale and upscale travelers across the country.
As part of the agreement, Marriott will integrate up to 84 hotels from The Fern portfolio—one of India’s leading eco-sensitive hotel chains—into its network. This addition will bring approximately 6,000 rooms under Marriott's umbrella, making it one of the largest multi-unit transactions in Indian hospitality history.
"This strategic collaboration represents more than just a portfolio expansion—it's the alignment of two shared visions to redefine the mid-market hospitality landscape," said Rahul Chaudhary, Managing Director and CEO of CG Corp Global. "With this partnership, we aim to grow The Fern to 500 hotels by 2030, marking a defining moment for the brand and the sector."
Concept Hospitality Private Limited (CHPL), majority-owned by CG Hospitality, currently operates over 120 hotels in 90 Indian cities, with another 40 properties in development. Under the deal, Marriott will make a strategic equity investment in CHPL and enter a long-term co-branding agreement for The Fern, The Fern Residency, and The Fern Habitat brands.
The new Series by Marriott brand will blend Marriott’s global reach and technological infrastructure with The Fern’s established local presence and environmental ethos. Guests can expect access to Marriott’s extensive digital platforms and its acclaimed loyalty program, Marriott Bonvoy, which boasts over 237 million members worldwide.
"Series by Marriott furthers our commitment to offering high-quality stays in the right locations, at the right price," said Anthony Capuano, President and CEO of Marriott International. "We are excited to launch this brand with CHPL, a partner that shares our values and ambitions."
The partnership emphasizes sustainable growth and expansion into emerging Indian markets, reflecting both companies' commitment to environmentally responsible development. It also builds on CG Hospitality’s growing global footprint, which now includes 195 hotels across 12 countries.
Earlier this year, Marriott and CG also announced the conversion of The Farm at San Benito in the Philippines into an Autograph Collection resort, illustrating the deepening global collaboration between the two groups.
Together, Marriott and CG Hospitality are not just expanding their hotel portfolios—they’re setting a new standard for midscale hospitality in India and charting a fresh path for the industry's future.
