French luxury group LVMH is evaluating opportunities to expand its presence in India’s jewellery market, as rising premium consumption and the growing acceptance of organised jewellery retail create opportunities for global luxury brands.
The group’s interest in the category follows its ownership of Italian luxury jewellery house Bvlgari, which has an established presence in India.
LVMH has also explored opportunities involving De Beers Group and other jewellery businesses, highlighting the strategic importance of the category within the global luxury group's India ambitions.
India’s expanding affluent consumer base and increasing demand for premium products have attracted international luxury companies across categories. Jewellery is emerging as a significant opportunity alongside established luxury segments such as watches, automobiles and high-end real estate.
The potential expansion would further deepen the presence of international luxury brands in India’s evolving jewellery retail landscape, where organised players are gaining greater consumer acceptance.
