Hero MotoCorp will introduce its most budget-friendly electric scooter, Vida Z, on July 1, as it intensifies efforts to capture a larger share of India’s rapidly growing electric two-wheeler market. Expected to be priced around ₹1 lakh, the Vida Z will be more affordable than the existing Vida V2 range. The company may brand it as the Vida VX2 in the market.
One of the key highlights of the Vida Z is its removable battery system, a feature not currently found in competitors like the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak. The scooter is built on a modular platform that supports battery capacities ranging from 2.2kWh to 4.4kWh and is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The design is tailored to appeal to family-oriented buyers.
Hero currently ranks fifth in India’s electric two-wheeler market. In May 2025, it sold 7,164 Vida units, marking a 191% year-on-year increase. The company sold a total of 48,673 Vida units in FY2025 and plans to scale up production to 13,000–15,000 units monthly.
With the launch of Vida Z, Hero aims to strengthen its position in the sub-₹1 lakh EV segment while leveraging its widespread dealership and service network. The company is also eyeing international expansion and plans to enter markets like the UK, France, Spain, and Italy in the second half of 2025.
