Tata Motors has officially launched its much-anticipated electric SUV, the Harrier EV, with a starting ex-showroom price of ₹21.49 lakh. Marking a major milestone for the company, the Harrier EV is Tata’s first dual-motor electric vehicle and one of the most affordable AWD (All-Wheel Drive) electric SUVs in its segment. The launch aims to attract mainstream SUV buyers into the electric vehicle space.
Built on Tata’s new Acti.ev Gen 2 platform, the Harrier EV features the company’s QWD (Quad Wheel Drive) technology that delivers over 500 Nm of torque. It boasts a certified driving range of over 600 kilometers and is equipped with advanced features such as ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging—typically found in luxury SUVs priced above ₹50 lakh.
The Harrier EV will be offered in multiple variants, starting with the “Adventure Persona” and going up to the top-end “Empowered QWD.” Tata Motors will organize a special event, “Quad Days,” on June 13–14 to showcase the SUV’s performance and capabilities. Bookings for the Harrier EV will open from July 2.
Amid rising competition from Mahindra’s BE.6 and XUV.e9 and JSW MG Motor’s Windsor EV, Tata is looking to reclaim its dominance in the EV segment, where its market share has dipped from 70% to just over 50% in the past year.
“This is not just about electrification,” said Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility. “It’s about delivering a fundamentally better SUV experience.”
With the Harrier EV, Tata Motors is entering the next phase of electric mobility, where the focus goes beyond price parity to include value, capability, and an elevated ownership experience.
