Bajaj Auto to Launch New Electric Rickshaw Under 'GoGo' Brand in July
Bajaj Auto is set to launch a new electric rickshaw under its ‘GoGo’ brand by July 2025, targeting quality and reliability in a fragmented market. With a 33% EV market share, the company aims to tap into a 40,000-unit segment and strengthen its leadership

India’s leading automobile manufacturer Bajaj Auto Ltd. has announced that it will launch a new electric rickshaw (e-rickshaw) under its recently introduced ‘GoGo’ brand in early July 2025. This move reflects the company’s strong ambition to establish leadership in the country’s rapidly growing electric three-wheeler market.

According to Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director at Bajaj Auto, the company has already gained strong momentum in the electric auto segment. Its market share has increased from 17% in FY24 to 33% in FY25, making Bajaj the number one brand in India’s electric auto segment during April and May 2025.

“We will launch a new e-rick in early July. The segment is currently fragmented, dominated by subpar products. Our goal is to bring a well-engineered, reliable solution for both drivers and passengers,” Sharma said during the company’s Q4 financial results call.

The upcoming electric rickshaw will be powered by a lithium-ion battery, offering better range and lower maintenance. In February 2025, Bajaj launched its all-electric brand ‘Bajaj GoGo’ with three passenger variants. Being the largest player in India’s petrol and CNG three-wheeler market, Bajaj now aims to compete head-on with Mahindra & Mahindra in the electric segment.

“I believe this new e-rick will open up a 40,000-unit market segment, which we aim to upgrade over the coming years,” Sharma added.

He also noted that FY26 will focus on understanding market trends and laying a strong foundation. The company plans to continuously adapt the product and its go-to-market strategy based on feedback from drivers and passengers.

Despite ongoing challenges around fuel transitions and regulatory frameworks, Sharma remains “very optimistic” about the sustained growth of the three-wheeler business. Bajaj’s domestic commercial vehicle segment has already achieved record-high revenues, driven by double-digit growth across both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle categories.
