In a strategic move to strengthen its position in the electric two-wheeler segment, Hero MotoCorp is preparing to launch two new affordable electric scooters in the first half of FY2026. The launch is expected to take place in July 2025.
Addressing investors, the company's senior management stated, “We are planning to introduce two new affordable products in the first half of the financial year, most likely in July. This will help us accelerate growth and capture more market share.”
Currently, Hero MotoCorp sells electric vehicles under the Vida brand, offering the V2 model in three variants – V2 Pro, V2 Plus, and V2 Lite – with ex-showroom prices ranging from ₹74,000 to ₹1.15 lakh.
The company also revealed that an upgraded version of the Vida V2 will be launched soon, offering better value and catering to a wider range of customer needs.
Additionally, a new, more affordable model is being developed under the project codenamed ACPD, which is expected to bring the price point even closer to that of ICE (internal combustion engine) scooters, making it a more accessible option for mass-market buyers.
Currently, Hero MotoCorp is producing around 7,000 electric vehicles per month. With the introduction of the upgraded Vida V2 and the new ACPD model, the company aims to increase monthly output to 13,000–15,000 units, with plans to ramp up production to 20,000 units by the festive season of 2025.
Last year, Hero unveiled its second EV model, the Vida Z, which is set to launch this year. The Vida Z will be Hero MotoCorp’s first electric vehicle to be sold in the UK and European markets.
In FY2025, Hero MotoCorp dispatched 58,503 EV units, a significant jump from 19,805 units in FY2024. Retail sales also rose to 48,674 units in FY2025, up from 17,720 units the previous year.
Looking ahead, Hero MotoCorp aims to achieve break-even in its electric vehicle business within the next couple of years, which would require average monthly sales of 25,000–30,000 units.
