As Reliance Retail sharpens its focus on digital fashion and omni-channel retail expansion, the company has appointed former Coupang and Flipkart executive Sandeep Karwa as the new Chief Executive Officer of Ajio.
The leadership transition comes as Reliance Retail accelerates investments in online fashion commerce and rapid delivery capabilities to strengthen its position in India’s increasingly competitive digital retail market.
Under the new structure, outgoing Ajio CEO Vineeth Nair will take on an expanded role overseeing a broader portfolio within Reliance Retail’s fashion and lifestyle business.
Karwa will now lead Ajio, Shein India and the group’s larger online fashion and lifestyle operations as the company intensifies efforts to scale its digital and omni-channel ecosystem.
The appointment comes amid rising competition in India’s online fashion segment, where major platforms such as Myntra, Nykaa Fashion and Tata CLiQ continue to expand investments in digital retail infrastructure and fulfilment capabilities.
Reliance Retail has been strengthening Ajio’s delivery network and digital commerce operations in response to growing consumer preference for faster fulfilment and app-based fashion shopping.
Nair, who has been associated with Ajio for nearly a decade, played a key role in building the platform into one of Reliance Retail’s major fashion businesses. His new mandate is expected to focus on the broader fashion and lifestyle portfolio across the group.
