French cosmetics major L’Oréal has announced plans to invest more than ₹3,500 crore ($383.4 million) to establish a global beauty technology hub in Hyderabad, reinforcing India’s growing role in the company’s digital and innovation strategy.
The proposed hub will serve as a worldwide base for artificial intelligence-led beauty innovation and is expected to generate around 2,000 technology jobs by 2030. According to the company, the facility will focus on accelerating the development and deployment of advanced AI-driven beauty solutions across global markets.
The partnership was formalised at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where L’Oréal Chief Executive Officer Nicolas Hieronimus signed an agreement with the government of Telangana. The state has rapidly positioned itself as a leading destination for technology and innovation investments in southern India, particularly in areas such as IT services, digital platforms, and emerging technologies.
L’Oréal said the Hyderabad hub will play a central role in strengthening its beauty tech capabilities, leveraging India’s deep talent pool in artificial intelligence, data science, and digital engineering.
The announcement also reflects strengthening economic ties between India and France. Bilateral trade between the two countries reached about $15 billion in 2024, amid closer diplomatic and commercial engagement between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron.
With the new investment, L’Oréal joins a growing list of global companies expanding high-value technology and innovation operations in India, underscoring the country’s rising importance in global R&D and digital transformation.
