With the right innovation and investments, we believe we can double our India business in the next three years: Lenovo Asia Pacific President Amar Babu

Global technology major Lenovo is aiming to double its India business over the next three years, driven by strong growth in its Motorola smartphone portfolio and sustained high double-digit expansion in infrastructure and services, a senior executive said.

Lenovo Asia Pacific President Amar Babu said India has emerged as one of the company’s fastest-growing markets globally, supported by rising domestic consumption and an “India for the world” innovation approach.

“India is a growth story for Lenovo across all our businesses,” Babu said in an interview with PTI. “Motorola has performed exceptionally well, with revenues more than doubling over the past two years. Our infrastructure as well as services and solutions businesses are growing at high double-digit rates. With the right innovation and investments, we believe we can double our India business in the next three years.”

Babu highlighted that Lenovo India has been growing at over 20 per cent annually, making it a key contributor to the company’s global growth strategy. He added that the company is increasingly leveraging India not just as a market, but also as a hub for design, development and talent.

Lenovo currently designs its mainstream servers in India, while a significant share of software development for Motorola smartphones is carried out locally. The company is also betting on artificial intelligence, premium devices and enterprise solutions to drive its next phase of growth.

On hiring, Babu said Lenovo will continue to invest in talent and infrastructure in line with business expansion. While he did not disclose specific hiring numbers, he noted that India remains a critical talent base for Lenovo’s global operations.

“India’s talent ecosystem is incredibly attractive. We hire not just for India operations, but for Lenovo worldwide,” he said.

Lenovo India reported a 23 per cent year-on-year rise in revenue to USD 1.2 billion in the September quarter, supported by strong demand amid increased digitisation, premiumisation trends and improving consumer sentiment following the GST restructuring.
