India’s electronics exports have crossed the ₹4 lakh crore milestone in 2025, marking a significant leap for the sector and underscoring the country’s growing role in global electronics manufacturing, Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said.
Sharing the update on social media, the minister noted that the export growth has contributed to job creation and foreign exchange inflows, with further momentum expected in 2026 as four semiconductor fabrication plants begin commercial production.
Official estimates show that electronic production stood at around ₹11.3 lakh crore in 2024–25, while exports during the same period were valued at approximately ₹3.3 lakh crore. The latest figures indicate a sharp acceleration in export performance this year.
Mobile phones continue to anchor India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem. Industry estimates suggest the sector employs over 25 lakh people nationwide. A report shared by the minister highlighted that iPhone exports from India alone reached ₹2.03 lakh crore in 2025—nearly double the ₹1.1 lakh crore recorded in calendar year 2024.
According to the India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA), mobile phone production in the country is projected to touch USD 75 billion (around ₹6.76 lakh crore) by the end of the current fiscal year, with exports accounting for more than USD 30 billion, or roughly ₹2.7 lakh crore. In 2024–25, mobile phone production stood at ₹5.5 lakh crore, while exports from the segment were close to ₹2 lakh crore.
Neil Shah, Co-Founder and Vice President for Research at Counterpoint, said Apple’s expanding manufacturing footprint has positioned the company as a key driver of India’s export story, particularly following tariff-related shifts away from China.
He added that India is expected to produce nearly 30 crore mobile phones in 2025, with about one in four devices exported. Premium markets, especially the US, are contributing significantly to export value, led by brands such as Apple, Samsung, and Motorola.
Data from the International Data Corporation (IDC) showed that Apple recorded its highest-ever domestic quarterly supplies in the September quarter of 2025, with shipments of 50 lakh iPhones. The brand continues to lead both the premium and super-premium smartphone segments, helping fuel overall market growth during the period.
