Program Overview:

Little Readers' Nook is an educational initiative founded by former software professional and mum of 2, Devaki Bhujang Gajare in Mumbai in 2012, with the aim of teaching Language Arts the joyful way, through Outstanding Children’s Literature.

Children's books offer a rich source of linguistic input - diverse vocabulary, complex sentence structure, sophisticated play on words, interesting multicultural themes. At Little Readers’ Nook, we curate the best in world children's literature and design open-ended activities to enhance children's appreciation of these books. Rather than rote learn word lists and grammar rules, children intuitively pick up nuances of language and vocabulary in context, through books they actually enjoy reading. They learn to think creatively and independently, and practice using the written and spoken word to effectively communicate their ideas - the goal of Language Arts.

Our 3 age-appropriate levels together form a complete Language Arts program, with a balanced focus on all 4 of its elements - reading, writing, speaking and listening - in the context of outstanding children's literature:BOOKS MADE FUN for ages 2-3,READiscover for ages 3-7,WORDS AND BEYOND for ages 7-10

Team Profile:

The Little Readers’ Nook team is a diverse team comprising over 60 talented women across 25 cities in India and overseas. Experts in the field of English literature and early childhood education design our training module and lesson plans. Our story educators are typically young mothers who’ve given up lucrative corporate careers to be home with their kids, women passionate about education and looking to make a difference. We are proud of the commitment and outstanding profile of our team members; we believe they each contribute a unique flavour and are the strength of our program.

Our Requirements:

We are looking for franchisee story educators to join the team and take our program to their local community. Our ideal candidate will have the following characteristics:

• Passion for books and teaching
• Aptitude to engage young children
• Excellent grasp of the English language
• Flair for dramatics and a great sense of fun
• Self-initiative and commitment to grow your own venture

A clean, safe, spacious and quiet room is required to conduct sessions. You may conduct sessions in your own home or independently negotiate terms with a preschool or activity centre in your neighbourhood. There is no major investment involved in terms of furniture or decor.

We take care of all behind-the-scenes planning, so you can simply focus on delivering the best possible sessions to the children in your community.

Important Note:

Do keep in mind a new venture requires patient nurturing at the outset. You will likely start with a small group of kids and grow once the first set of parents help you spread the word. Our initial investment is nominal. Later financial returns will be commensurate with the effort you put in. To quote an example, one of our more successful team members conducts sessions for 5 batches, spending 5 hours a week, and earns ~INR 40000 per month (figures quoted for India).
