Taxi aggregator Olacabs has offered to ferry sweet boxes and greeting cards across 16 cities this festival season. Olacabs customers will be able to order a festive hamper for their friends and family from their app for just Rs 490, according to a report published in Economic Times.
"At the push of a button, our customers can order a Diwali hamper, which will include an assortment of dry fruits and a greeting card for their friends and family in the same city or other cities. Payment can be made through the Ola wallet," said Anand Subramanian, head-marketing communications, Olacabs.
Olacabs will have its own fleet as well as tieups with its delivery partners to ensure deliveries are done in less than an hour of placing an order. "This is a strategy to get users accustomed to the digital cab service wave," said Arvind Singhal, chairman at retail and advisory firm Technopak, adding that all cab aggregators are now focusing on customer acquisition.
In July, Olacabs has also raised Rs 250 crore in a fresh round of funding led by Steadview Capital and Silicon Sequoia Capital. Indian startups including Olacabs, TaxiForSure and Meru are doing everything from revamping their mobile apps to offering discounts to launching services in new cities in a bid to retain their market share.
