So far the centre has approved 14 projects under the cluster development programme.
The industries department of Kerala will hold a three day business event for MSME sector, where 200 investors from outside Kerala and abroad will participate in the event, according to a PTI report.
The event will start from February 26. Sectors like food processing, handlooms, textiles and garment, rubber, wood based industries, ayurveda and herbal, electrical and electronics, and traditional sectors like handicrafts bamboo will be showcased at the event. Around 151 SME exhibitors from Kerala will participate at the event.
As per the report, the state has identified around 70 clusters spread across various sectors, including food, garments, rubber and clay and around 50 consortia were formed and registered in different clusters.
So far the centre has approved 14 projects under the cluster development programme. While another nine projects are on the process to get approval from the centre. Approved projects cost worth Rs 85.87 crore and the investment is worth Rs 118 crore.
"We found that the model of Cluster Development Programme (CDP) was most suited for the development and growth of the sector. The government's effort is to spur the growth of the SMEs, which has been growing exponentially, to put the state's industrial sector in a higher growth trajectory," Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty told PTI.
