In order to attract investors to the state the Tamil Nadu government will set up an industrial park for Japanese small and medium enterprises (SME).
According to the state Industries Department Principal Secretary Mr Rajeev Ranjan, the industrial estate will be on a 100-acre land targeting the Japanase SME units though it will not be a part of special economic zone (SEZ).
The state already has about 170 Japanese companies, up from 77 in 2008. A move like this will help in directing more and more investment from the south-Asian region to the estate.
