Dr. Tapan Vaidya

Dr. Tapan Vaidya is a hospitality veteran with over four decades of experience across the Middle East and India, widely respected for his contribution to restaurant operations, brand development and franchise leadership. His journey in the foodservice industry began during his university days and what started as a passion soon turned into a lifelong commitment to building and scaling restaurant brands across geographies.

Over the last 23 years with Papa Johns, Dr. Vaidya has played a pivotal role in expanding the brand’s presence across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and India through PJP Investments Group. He has been associated with the development of hundreds of restaurants across markets and has also worked with leading global brands including Papa Johns, Chili’s, Burger King, Pizza Hut and Outback Steakhouse. His deep operational understanding and hands-on leadership style continue to drive growth, innovation and excellence within the organisation.

His achievements have earned him consistent industry recognition. Dr. Vaidya has featured on the Caterer Middle East Power 50 List for four consecutive years (2020–2023) and is a two-time Global Franchisee of the Year awardee in the Papa Johns system. He has also received the Franchise Champion Award, two Developers of the Year Awards, two RetailME MENA Icons Awards, and the Foodservice MENA Icons recognition.

Beyond his corporate role, Dr. Vaidya actively contributes to the broader restaurant ecosystem. He serves as the Treasurer and Executive Board Member of the UAE Restaurant Group, a not-for-profit body representing the voice of the restaurant industry in the UAE. He remains deeply committed to sharing his knowledge and experience to strengthen the sector and inspire future leaders.

Education Qualification

Dr. Vaidya is a Mathematics graduate from St. Xavier’s College and holds a Business Diploma from NMIMS, Mumbai. He was also conferred with a Professional Doctorate in Global Leadership & Management by European International University – Paris in recognition of his leadership and contribution to social, economic and corporate fields.

Dr. Vaidya is currently the Group CEO of PJP Investments Group, the master franchise operator for Papa Johns across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and India. He also serves as Treasurer and Executive Board Member of the UAE Restaurant Group.
