In a move to accelerate its nationwide footprint, quick commerce leader Zepto is set to open 150 new dark stores in the upcoming quarter, targeting both existing and emerging markets across India. The expansion is strategically designed to tap into the surging demand not only in metros but more significantly in Tier 2 cities such as Nashik, Kanpur, and Vadodara.
Speaking exclusively to Franchise India, Vinay Dhanani, President, Zepto, shared insights into this next phase of growth.“Our growth isn’t limited to metros. Tier 2 markets like Nashik have shown phenomenal adoption—crossing 1,000 daily orders within just six weeks. It took months to hit those numbers in Delhi, Mumbai, or Bangalore,” he said.
Zepto began as a WhatsApp-led grocery delivery service during the pandemic, aiming to make essentials quickly accessible. It has since grown into one of India’s fastest-scaling quick commerce platforms, operating over 900 dark stores across 70+ cities and delivering a selection of 50,000+ SKUs.
“Our model focuses on frequently purchased, small-ticket items delivered with speed and quality. To deepen value, we’re also expanding into categories like apparel and electronics,” Dhanani added.
Despite entering new categories and cities, Zepto remains committed to its founding vision—to make 10-minute delivery the new normal in India.
With a robust dark store network, a customer-first approach, and aggressive expansion plans, Zepto continues to redefine how India shops—fast, local, and frictionless.
