Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer VinFast has officially inaugurated its new state-of-the-art electric car factory in Ha Tinh province, spanning 360,000 square metres. The facility includes modern divisions for shell welding, painting, assembly, logistics warehousing, and quality inspection. An additional 240,000 square metre auxiliary cluster is also under development, with future expansion plans in place.
Recognized as one of the most advanced production units in Southeast Asia, the Ha Tinh facility is equipped with cutting-edge automation technologies from global leaders like ABB, Durr, Fanuc, and Siemens. The manufacturing process adheres to international standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949.
Initially, the plant will focus on producing compact urban EVs such as VF 3, Minio Green, and EC Van, catering to both domestic and international markets.
VinGroup Vice Chairman and General Director Nguyen Viet Quang highlighted the plant’s strategic importance: "The launch of VinFast Ha Tinh is a significant milestone in our global expansion journey. It will contribute greatly towards our target of producing 1 million vehicles annually and promoting sustainable transportation."
In the first five months of 2025, VinFast sold over 56,000 EVs, holding the largest market share in Vietnam. Models like VF 3, VF 5, and VF 6 remain the company’s top sellers. Demand is also rising in the Philippines and Indonesia.
In India, VinFast is rapidly building its presence. On February 25, 2024, the company laid the foundation for its EV manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. With an initial annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles, the facility is expected to generate 3,500 jobs.
Anticipating strong demand for electric SUVs, VinFast plans to launch VF 6 and VF 7 mid-size electric SUVs during India’s festive season starting September. To generate awareness, the company began vehicle showcases at major malls across India on June 21.
VinFast aims to transform India into an EV export hub serving South Asia, the Middle East, and African markets. The company’s India project is a key pillar of its global strategy, leveraging the country's robust auto component supply chain.
Initially, the Thoothukudi plant will assemble CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units with a starting capacity of 50,000 units per year, scaling up to 150,000 units. VinFast also plans to introduce a range of premium and mass-market models tailored to Indian and international consumers.
