VinFast Auto India has announced a strategic partnership with BatX Energies to establish comprehensive battery recycling and repurposing services for its electric vehicle operations in India. Under this partnership, BatX will handle high-voltage battery recycling, material recovery, and repurposing for VinFast’s factory and after-sales network.
Through this process, BatX will recover critical materials like lithium, cobalt, and nickel, which will be reintegrated into future battery production. The initiative aims to reduce reliance on mining and minimize the environmental impact of battery waste, aligning with global efforts toward resource circularity and sustainability.
The partnership also ensures traceability and transparency in raw material sourcing and recycling processes. Beyond immediate recycling needs, the two companies will explore future collaborations on second-life battery applications, urban mining, and strategic material recovery, strengthening long-term sustainability efforts.
VinFast is currently preparing to launch its first two electric SUVs in India—VF 6 and VF 7. The company is scaling up operations at its Thoothukudi plant in Tamil Nadu while expanding its dealership network, after-sales services, and EV charging infrastructure across the country.
This alliance supports the development of the circular economy in both India and Vietnam and marks a major step toward environmentally responsible EV manufacturing. VinFast Auto India is a subsidiary of VinFast, owned by Vietnam’s Vingroup JSC, and is publicly listed on NASDAQ under the symbol VFS.
