Shell India and DGT Launch Green Skills and EV Training Program
Shell India and DGT have jointly launched a Green Skills and EV Training Program to prepare the youth for green energy and electric mobility. The initiative will offer students practical training, job assistance, and certification.

The Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has partnered with Shell India to launch a Green Skills and Electric Vehicle (EV) Training Program. The objective of this program is to equip students and trainers with future-ready skills in green energy and e-mobility.

This training will be implemented from June 12, 2025, by Shell’s training partner, Edunet Foundation, at selected Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) across Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.

Program Highlights:

A 240-hour advanced EV Technician course will be offered at 4 NSTIs.

A 90-hour job-oriented EV skill course will be conducted at 12 ITIs.

A 50-hour basic Green Skills module will be provided at selected ITIs without physical labs.

The curriculum will cover EV systems, battery technology, safety protocols, digital tools, and diagnostics. Over 250 trainers will also undergo specialized training. Successful participants will receive joint certification from Shell and DGT along with job placement support.

A key feature of this program is the establishment of modern EV skill laboratories at selected ITIs and NSTIs, offering practical industry-based training.

Skill Development Minister Jayant Chaudhary emphasized that this initiative is a major opportunity to prepare Indian youth for the green energy and climate sectors. He highlighted its significance in promoting innovation, employment, and environmental sustainability.

DGT Director General Trishaljit Sethi said that this collaboration will bring cutting-edge EV technology and industry-relevant training to ITIs and NSTIs, significantly boosting the employability of students.

Mansi Madan Tripathi, Chairperson of Shell Group of Companies in India and Senior Vice President of Shell Lubricants Asia-Pacific, said that Shell aims to empower young people with green energy skills to build a low-carbon future. This partnership will provide students with practical training and help them contribute to India’s net-zero goals.

This initiative is being seen as a strong step toward preparing India’s youth for a sustainable, innovation-driven future in the green economy.
