Sportswear giant Puma has appointed Ramprasad Sridharan as managing director for its India business, with the role set to take effect in December. Sridharan will report directly to Puma’s chief commercial officer, Matthias Bäumer, the company said in a statement.
Bringing over 25 years of experience across the Asia-Pacific region, Sridharan has built a career spanning brand building, digital growth, and commercial strategy within the fashion and footwear sectors. Bäumer said Sridharan’s expertise would be instrumental in strengthening Puma’s operations in India, one of the company’s priority markets. “He brings deep retail expertise to Puma… I am confident that his strong background will help accelerate Puma India’s growth and translate our global priorities into regional success,” he said.
Sridharan previously served as CEO and managing director of United Colors of Benetton India and has held senior roles at Reebok India and Clarks.
He succeeds Karthik Balagopalan, who is stepping down to pursue opportunities outside the company. Bäumer extended his appreciation for Balagopalan’s “two decades with Puma” and wished him well in his next chapter.
