In a major move to expand its footprint in South India’s premium automobile market, French tyre manufacturer Michelin India has opened two new Tyre and Service Centres — one in Bengaluru and another in Kochi. The Bengaluru store was inaugurated on May 28, followed by the Kochi store on May 29.
The 3,000 sq. ft. Bengaluru store is located in Indiranagar and is operated in partnership with Cherry Tyre Park, India’s largest tyre retail network. The store offers tyre fitment, wheel balancing, and alignment services, catering to the growing demand from premium vehicle owners. Cherry Tyre Park has been associated with Michelin for over 12 years.
In Kochi, Michelin opened its first standalone outlet in partnership with Global Tyres at Palarivattom, Ernakulam. This 5,500 sq. ft. store offers tyre sales, fitment, wheel balancing, alignment, nitrogen inflation, and alloy wheel upgrades. Global Tyres, led by founder Philip George, currently operates three retail outlets in Kochi.
Shantanu Deshpande, Managing Director of Michelin India, highlighted that both cities are strategically important for the company. While Bengaluru consumers prioritize quality and performance, Kochi is emerging as a dynamic mobility market with rising automotive enthusiasm.
The Bengaluru store was inaugurated by Siddharth Mehta, Marketing Director at Michelin India, and the Kochi store by Prashant Sharma, National Sales Manager. Both centres are focused on addressing the rising demand for high-performance tyres in India’s premium vehicle segment.
Michelin operates in 175 countries and employs over 129,800 people globally. Besides tyres, the company also manufactures products for construction, aeronautics, and healthcare sectors, and manages the globally renowned Michelin Guide for restaurant ratings.
This expansion is part of Michelin’s broader strategy to grow its retail network in southern India and capture a greater share of the premium automotive market through partnerships with established local dealers.
