Switch Mobility has handed over 100 electric vehicles (IeV3) to the Indore Municipal Corporation for waste management operations. These EVs will replace traditional diesel vehicles, helping to reduce carbon emissions and noise pollution in the city.
The handover ceremony was attended by Urban Administration and Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya and Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava. The Switch IeV3 vehicles are specifically designed to handle both wet and dry waste transportation.
Mahesh Babu, CEO of Switch Mobility, said, “We are proud to partner with Indore on the path to a cleaner future. Indore has consistently ranked as India’s cleanest city, and we are committed to helping maintain that standard.”
These vehicles are equipped with Switch’s connected vehicle platform, ‘SWITCH iON’, which enables real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and route optimization.
Indore has maintained its leadership in cleanliness through multiple environmental initiatives. The integration of electric vehicles into civic services marks a significant step toward reducing the environmental impact of municipal operations.
Switch Mobility is a joint venture between India’s Ashok Leyland and UK-based bus manufacturer Optare. The company has deployed over 1,250 electric buses globally, covering more than 150 million kilometers. In 2024, Switch launched its IeV series, and now more than 1,000 electric light commercial vehicles are active in last-mile logistics.
The company has earned several accolades, including ‘Company of the Year’ and ‘Star Electric Bus of the Year’. As cities strive to reduce pollution in essential services like waste management, the demand for electric vehicles is rapidly increasing. With advancements in battery technology and vehicle range, EVs are becoming a more viable and efficient alternative.
