JBM Electric Vehicles has announced a strategic partnership with Hitachi ZeroCarbon to integrate advanced battery management technology into its fleet of electric buses. The collaboration aims to enhance battery performance by leveraging real-time data insights on charging patterns, route optimization, and asset utilization.
This partnership focuses particularly on optimizing battery efficiency under varying climatic conditions across India and the Middle East. “This technical collaboration will proactively improve battery performance for our customers under different weather conditions. It will increase the residual value of batteries and lower operational costs for public transport operators,” said Nishant Arya, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of JBM Auto Ltd.
Hitachi ZeroCarbon CEO Ram Ramachander called the initiative a “landmark” step for their BatteryManager technology, emphasizing that India’s diverse climate offers an ideal environment to showcase the system’s capabilities in addressing operational challenges.
The demand for electric buses in India has been growing rapidly. Since 2018, JBM’s e-buses have clocked over 150 million electric kilometers. The company also boasts the world’s largest dedicated electric bus manufacturing facility outside China, with an annual production capacity of 20,000 buses.
