Celebrated Indian restaurateur Zorawar Kalra has expanded his globally acclaimed dining brand, Farzi Café, to New York City with the opening of a new outpost in Tribeca. Located at 78 Leonard Street, the launch marks Massive Restaurants’ entry into one of the world’s most competitive culinary markets and underscores the growing global presence of contemporary Indian cuisine.

Farzi Café, which derives its name from the Hindi word for "illusion," is renowned for its innovative interpretation of traditional Indian dishes. The concept blends regional authenticity with modern techniques, global influences, and theatrical presentation to create a distinctive dining experience.

Founded by Kalra — widely recognized as a leading force in Indian gastronomy and the son of legendary chef Jiggs Kalra — Farzi Café has established a strong international footprint, with locations in London, Toronto, and Seattle. The New York expansion represents a strategic move to introduce Indian cuisine in a refined, reimagined form to a broader audience.

“New York represents the pinnacle of culinary ambition. This opening is not just about growth — it’s about elevating Indian cuisine on a truly global stage,” said Kalra.

Executive Chef Gaurav Chawla will oversee the Tribeca kitchen, offering a menu that highlights Indian culinary diversity while incorporating local, seasonal ingredients. Signature items will include Dal Chawal Arancini, Avocado & Raw Mango Chaat, and several dishes created exclusively for the New York market.

Occupying the former Goa space, the venue has been completely redesigned to reflect Farzi Café’s dynamic brand ethos, featuring dramatic interiors, a vibrant bar, and immersive design elements.

Farzi Café Tribeca is poised to be a standout addition to Manhattan’s dining scene, further solidifying Zorawar Kalra’s vision of redefining Indian cuisine for a global audience.
