Cinépolis India, the country’s only international cinema exhibitor, has partnered with House of Candy, one of India’s largest importers and retailers of pick-and-mix confectionery, to expand its concession offerings.
The collaboration will also introduce a special-edition range of Halloween candies at Cinépolis cinemas in October, offering moviegoers seasonal confectionery options during the festive period.
For House of Candy, the tie-up provides access to a new high-footfall retail channel and expands its consumer reach. The brand currently operates more than 100 outlets across malls, high streets and airports in India, in addition to shop-in-shop formats with retail partners. Cinépolis, meanwhile, attracts close to 41 million guests annually across its cinema network.
Speaking about the partnership, Devang Sampat, Managing Director, Cinépolis India, said, “Our guests tell us what they want through what they buy. When we study ordering patterns across our Club Cinépolis members, confectionery stands out as a category where guests want more variety. House of Candy has built a brand our guests already know and love from malls and airports, and a dedicated range of their packaged candies at our counters means guests can grab their favourites on the way in to their movie. As we expand our F&B offering, bringing in brands our guests already love is at the heart of how we are building a future ready cinema experience in India.”
Cinépolis India continues to broaden its food and beverage offerings through collaborations with established brands. Its existing partnerships include Doritos and Crax, as well as a recent tie-up with Swiggy Dineout. Food and beverage contributes approximately 35% of the cinema exhibitor’s revenue, prompting the company to focus on expanding its range of offerings for moviegoers.
Kanu Sharma, Co-Founder and VP Marketing, House of Candy, said from pick-and-mix counters to indulgent movie-time treats, the association between candy and cinema is both natural and nostalgic. At House of Candy, we are incredibly excited to be pioneering this experience on a large scale across cinema chains in India through our partnership with Cinépolis.
