Carens Clavis EV Spotted Testing, Set for Launch Next Month
Kia has started deliveries of the Carens Clavis, and its electric variant is set to launch next month. The Carens Clavis EV will come equipped with advanced features, Level 2 ADAS, and V2V charging capabilities.

Kia launched its new MPV, the Carens Clavis, in India last month at a starting price of ₹11.50 lakh (ex-showroom). This updated version of the Carens has now begun reaching customers across the country. Alongside this, the company is preparing to launch the fully electric version of the Carens Clavis next month.

Ahead of its launch, the Carens Clavis EV has been spotted testing on Indian roads. Recent spy images show the EV test mule fully camouflaged, bearing a red number plate registered in Andhra Pradesh. The Carens Clavis EV will be Kia’s first mass-market electric vehicle (EV) in India.

In terms of design, the Carens Clavis EV is expected to look largely similar to its petrol-powered sibling, with minor changes like unique EV badging and newly designed aero alloy wheels. The front will likely feature triple-pod LED headlamps, sleek LED DRLs, a closed-off front grille, and other EV-specific styling elements.

Inside, the Carens Clavis EV is expected to house a 26.62-inch dual panoramic display, integrating the touchscreen infotainment system with a digital instrument cluster. Key features will likely include front ventilated seats, a 4-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, wireless charging, an 8-speaker BOSE premium sound system, and ambient lighting.

On the safety front, the Carens Clavis EV is anticipated to offer Level 2 ADAS features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, high beam assist, and driver attention warning. It is also expected to include a tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, a dual-camera dash cam, and a 360-degree camera with a blind view monitor integrated into the instrument cluster.

Notably, the Carens Clavis EV will support Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging, allowing the car to power other devices or even charge other electric vehicles.

Reports suggest that the Carens Clavis EV will share its platform with the Hyundai Creta Electric. It may offer two battery options: a 42kWh pack paired with a 135hp electric motor delivering a range of around 390 km, and a 51.4kWh battery paired with a 171hp motor offering a range of up to 473 km.

With the upcoming launch of the Carens Clavis EV, Kia is all set to make a significant entry into India’s growing electric vehicle market.
