The first edition of the Saudi Arabia Jewellery Exposition (SAJEX 2025) successfully concluded on Saturday at the Jeddah Superdome, marking a significant milestone in India–Saudi Arabia economic cooperation. Organised by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) with the support of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, and in partnership with the Embassy of India in Riyadh, the Consulate General of India in Jeddah, and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Investment, the three-day event (11–13 September) positioned the Kingdom as a rising hub for the global jewellery industry.
SAJEX 2025 is the first dedicated B2B gems and jewellery exhibition in Saudi Arabia. With over 100 exhibitors and 200 booths, the event showcased a wide range of products including diamonds, coloured gemstones, lab-grown diamonds, 18k to 22k gold, platinum jewellery, prêt and bridal collections, gifting pieces, and advanced jewellery technology. Exhibitors came from India, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Hong Kong, and Lebanon. The show attracted over 2,000 international trade buyers, creating an ideal platform for collaboration and new business.
The inauguration saw the presence of high-ranking dignitaries including H.E. Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia; Eng. Fahad Al Jubairy, Assistant Deputy Minister for Industrial Investment, Saudi Arabia; and HRH Princess Nourah Al-Faisal, noted entrepreneur and designer, among others, signalling the event's strategic importance.
India’s gem and jewellery exports to Saudi Arabia rose 45% in FY 2024–25 to USD 151.5 million, led by strong demand for studded gold jewellery. With the Kingdom’s jewellery market projected to nearly double to USD 8.34 billion by 2030, SAJEX arrives at a pivotal moment. India aims to leverage its global leadership in jewellery exports—valued at USD 28.7 billion last year—to meet this growing demand.
Highlighting the significance of the event, Mr. Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, said, “SAJEX stands out as a timely platform that will not only strengthen commercial ties but also open new avenues for collaboration in design, innovation, and market access.”
A key feature of SAJEX 2025 was the Global Jewellery Investment Forum, organised by GJEPC and supported by the Ministry of Investment, Saudi Arabia. The forum included sessions on investment, manufacturing, retail, and the role of gemmological labs and associations in harmonising standards across the GCC.
HRH Princess Nourah Al-Faisal stated, “India’s deep expertise makes it the ideal partner to help build an ecosystem that fosters creativity and empowers a new generation of Saudi designers.”
Mr. Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, GJEPC, noted, “Saudi Arabia is fast emerging as a key player in the luxury retail space. SAJEX sets the stage for long-term trade, innovation, and collaboration.”
Mr. Siddharth Mahajan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, added, “With bilateral trade at USD 42 billion and a strong Indian diaspora, SAJEX builds on a solid foundation of mutual trust and shared growth.”
As SAJEX 2025 wraps up, it leaves behind a legacy of strengthened ties, new business alliances, and a shared vision to position Saudi Arabia as a major player in the global jewellery landscape—with India as a key partner in that journey.
