All India Management Association (AIMA), the apex body of Indian management professionals, conferred the Managing India Awards 2013 on Thursday at the Taj Palace hotel in New Delhi. The awards celebrated achievements of outstanding companies, entrepreneurs and managers who have made salutary contribution to nation building.
Congratulating AIMA for its endeavours, President Pranab Mukherjee who was the Chief Guest at the event, said, “Our country needs visionary business leaders to manage India’s transition to a knowledge economy and Indian Industry should act as a catalyst for the growth process. AIMA awardees exemplify this conviction and I congratulate all for their contribution and hope these winners will ignite the minds of other managers.”
Hari S Bhartia, Co-Chairman & Founder, Jubilant Bhartia Group, said that Indian companies had the potential to be on par with the global giants in both scale and brand recognition.
Shyam S Bhartia, Chairman & Co-Founder, Jubilant Bhartia Group, described his mantra of success for young entrepreneurs saying, “If you strongly believe in your plan, work hard to get together a cohesive and motivated team to crystallize your plan, go ahead and implement it without fear of failures.”
Pawan Munjal, Managing Director and CEO, Hero MotoCorp Ltd, emphasised that to be a business leader one has to believe in the power of people and to understand the importance of humility. He added, “My biggest strength has been the large pool of talented people within the company. Over the years, I have personally chosen, nurtured and empowered many of them to take up leadership roles within the company.”
