Lead Angels Network kicks off Hyderabad Chapter to assist startups in Southern India

Lead Angels, an alumni focused angel network launched its Hyderabad Chapter on 3rd April 2015. Lead Angels Network was founded in 2013 by a team of three originally from IIT Bombay. Currently it has chapters in Mumbai, New Delhi and Ahmedabad.

Commenting on the new chapter launch, Sushanto Mitra, Founder and CEO, Lead Angels , said, “Lead Angels is committed to its members to bring the best ideas to the table. The new chapter will enable better access to ideas from South India and as well as showcase companies from other parts of India to our members in Hyderabad.”

Prof. U. B Desai, Director IIT Hyderabad who was the Chief Guest at the inaugural session said “Lead Angels has created a strong bridge between the academic and investor community by leveraging the alumni of premier institutions. This is also essential for ideas from the academic world to reach out to investors and users.”

Rajesh Pagdala, Angel Investor and Co-Founder Aditya Construction Company added “Lead Angels gives the ability for angels investors in Hyderabad to invest in not only in South India deals but also across India in a collaborative and consultative way. We are also able to leverage the expertise of members across domains not only in the city but also elsewhere thereby improving our investment decisions”

Vinutha Rallapalli, a chartered accountant by profession with considerable experience with startups who is a volunteer with Lead Angels said “Lead Angels has identified a crucial gap in the early stage funding scene and has an excellent pan Indian mentor-investor network. I believe the LA model of helping start-ups scale with the funding and support network is definitely well worth supporting.”

Lead Angels has so far funded 5 companies and included two start-ups founded by recent graduates of IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi respectively.

Lead Angels an alumni focused group of angel investors based in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, New Delhi and Hyderabad who invest in promising early stage companies that need investments and mentoring.

“Formed in 2013, the group has a diverse set of 70 plus members including successful entrepreneurs and professionals many of whom are alumni of premier institutions,” said the press statement.

Lead Angels also works with student entrepreneurship cells, incubators and alumni networks of these institutions to promote and develop entrepreneurship. This partnership with institutions enables the network to access early ideas from students and alumni of premier institutes.
