After partition Sardar Jagir Singh ji migrated from Pakistan and rented a property, by the name of Calcutta Dhaba in Karol Bagh in 1950, working hard earning bread and butter for his family. Having a passion for body building and frequenting Akhadas gave him an enviable physique fetch him the name Sando pehelwan. Running Calcutta Dhaba passionately for almost 40 prosperous years he untimely succumbed to a heart attack, forcing his son to drop out of college. Looking after Calcutta Dhaba with the same passion as his father, he decided to take it one step further by christening the restaurant in his father's name. Hence Sandoz Restaurant was born in 1994-95 posthomously honoring Sando Pehelwan. Facing intense market competition transformed a roadside dhaba, into a multi location food chain comprising of restaurants and take aways.
