TATA TRENT ON EXPANSION SPREE: 200+ STORES FROM WESTSIDE, ZUDIO BY FY25

Tata Trent, India’s leading retail company, is on expansion spree.The company’s retail expansion strategy is being aggressively implemented by two of its leading brands, Westside and Zudio.

Currently operating in 103 cities in India, Westside is looking at expansion in the coming months.

As per industry reports, this fashion focussed department store chain is planning to open between 20 and 30 stores in FY 2024-2025 and is also looking at enhancing its e-commerce operations over the coming months. Westside is also working on new product ideas to drive both premium products in the apparel portfolio as well as expand the non-apparel category.

As of March 2023, Westside operated 214 stores across 90 cities. As of the December quarter FY24, the retailer operated 227 stores in 89 cities. It added 12 new stores in Q4 of FY 2024. Westside registered 49% like-for-like growth in sales in FY23, according to the company's annual report.

Zudio has already launched approximately 100 exclusive brand outlets in FY2024 and intends to continue expanding its retail presence in the coming months. As per industry reports, Zudio will be opening 150 to 200 new stores by the end of the fiscal year 2025. With this, the Zudio store count could be anywhere in the range of 650-700 strong by the end of FY 2025. Zudio has played an important part in Trent’s business to more than doubling its standalone revenue from under Rs 3,500 crore pre-pandemic to Rs 8,000 crore in 2022-23.

With more than 460 studios, Zudio has a strong presence across the country, reaching a huge customer base.

Started in 1998, Trent owns and operates fashion and lifestyle retail formats such as Westside, Zudio and Utsa. The company also runs retail chains like Star Bazaar and Zara through joint ventures.
