In a landmark move for sustainable mobility and women’s entrepreneurship, ThunderPlus, one of India’s fastest-growing EV charging networks, has inaugurated its first women-owned franchise in Andhra Pradesh. Located at Hotel Vijayashree on NH-16 along the Vijayawada–Guntur highway, the new station marks the company’s second women-led EV franchise nationally.

The franchise is owned and operated by Mrs. Leela Lakshmi, a homemaker-turned-entrepreneur, who has stepped into the clean energy space with the support of ThunderPlus’s franchise model. The facility is equipped with a 30 kW DC CCS2 fast charger and two 3.3 kW AC chargers, catering to two-, three-, and four-wheelers. With an initial capacity of 50 kW and scalability up to 1 MW, the station is designed to meet both current and future demand.

“This is more than a business—it’s a platform to empower women and promote clean mobility,” said Mrs. Lakshmi. “ThunderPlus offered a complete ecosystem—advanced technology, 24x7 technical support, and a revenue model that gave me the confidence to take this leap.”

The company’s franchise model is built to encourage participation from first-time business owners, especially women. By providing end-to-end setup, centralized operations, and guaranteed technical backing, ThunderPlus removes many of the traditional barriers to entry in the EV infrastructure sector.

“This initiative reflects our mission to democratize clean mobility,” said Rajeev YSR, CEO of ThunderPlus. “We’re not just installing chargers—we’re enabling people from all walks of life to become part of India’s energy transition. Mrs. Lakshmi’s journey shows how entrepreneurship and sustainability can go hand in hand.”

The Mangalagiri station also offers convenience to EV users, allowing them to charge their vehicles while accessing amenities at the adjoining hotel—an important step in integrating EV infrastructure with everyday travel needs.

Industry analysts note that such inclusive, community-rooted business models are critical to accelerating EV adoption in India. By empowering individuals—particularly women—to own and operate green businesses, ThunderPlus is contributing to both environmental goals and socio-economic development.

As the demand for electric vehicles continues to grow, initiatives like this franchise are not just about expanding infrastructure—they represent a broader shift toward inclusive, sustainable growth.
