Switch Mobility Delivers First Batch of E- Buses to Delhi Transport Department
Switch Mobility has delivered the first batch of its Switch EiV12 electric buses to the Delhi Transport Department under a 950-bus order.

Switch Mobility has commenced delivery of its low-floor electric city bus Switch EiV12 to the Delhi Transport Department, marking a significant milestone in the capital’s public transport electrification drive. The delivery is part of a major order of 950 electric buses awarded under a tender issued by Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL).

The flag-off ceremony, held in New Delhi, was graced by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Singh, Member of Parliament Manoj Tiwari, MLA Surya Prakash Khatri, along with senior officials from the Transport Department and Switch Mobility. Also present were Niharika Rai, Commissioner of the Department of Transport, Delhi; Prince Dhawan, Managing Director of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC); Dr. Chadda, Senior Advisor, Hinduja Group; R.G. Venkataraman, Chief Commercial Officer, Switch Mobility; and Saurabh Chaudhary, CEO of Ohm Global Mobility.

Manufactured in India, the 12-meter-long EiV12 buses are specifically designed for high-frequency urban commuting. Each bus accommodates 39 seated passengers and features an ultra-low-floor design, ensuring easy access for senior citizens and differently-abled commuters. Additional features include wheelchair ramps, CCTV cameras, panic buttons, and GPS tracking systems.

The buses run on Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries, which provide better stability and safety. They are also equipped with a Fire Detection and Suppression System (FDSS) for enhanced safety. A rear-mounted dual-gun charging interface allows faster charging and efficient depot utilization.

Equipped with Switch Mobility’s proprietary Switch iON telematics platform, the buses enable real-time monitoring, intelligent fleet management, and seamless integration with transport management systems.

Commenting on the delivery, R.G. Venkataraman, CCO of Switch Mobility, said: “The EiV12 electric buses delivered to Delhi mark a major step in modernizing the city’s public transport system. These buses combine world-class engineering standards with local manufacturing capabilities.”

The Delhi government aims to build India’s largest electric bus fleet. The deployment of these zero-emission buses is expected to significantly reduce pollution and carbon emissions in the city.

Switch Mobility, part of the Hinduja Group and leveraging Ashok Leyland’s engineering expertise, has already deployed over 1,250 electric buses globally, collectively clocking more than 150 million kilometers. The company’s electric light commercial vehicle range (IeV Series) is also growing, with more than 1,000 units currently in operation.

With the introduction of the Switch EiV12 fleet, Delhi takes another step forward in its journey toward sustainable and clean mobility.
