India's appetite for international cinema is growing fast, and PVR Inox Ltd is gearing up to meet the demand with a packed slate of global releases across genres, according to Aamer Bijli, Head of Marketing and Innovation at the multiplex giant.
As part of its strategic expansion, PVR Inox will distribute several major Hollywood titles in the next year, including both blockbusters and independent films from top studios like Lionsgate, A24, Neon, Black Bear, and FilmNation. The initiative kicks off with the premiere of the action-thriller Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas.
“We want to be the destination for every genre — horror, rom-com, anime, action — as Indian audiences diversify their tastes,” said Bijli, highlighting the company’s goal to lead in international, local, and live entertainment content.
Upcoming releases include Smashing Machine with Dwayne Johnson, Aziz Ansari’s Good Fortune starring Keanu Reeves and Seth Rogen, Shinchan: Kasukabe Dancers, and the latest Now You See Me installment. A robust 2025-26 lineup features A24 films starring Brad Pitt, Zendaya, and Timothée Chalamet, alongside horror hits like Saw 11 and The Strangers: Chapter 2.
Action films remain a key genre due to their wide appeal and dubbing potential across languages, Bijli noted. Star power, studio relationships, and content quality also shape PVR Inox’s acquisition strategy.
“With rising global box office numbers from India, including hits like John Wick 4 and Oppenheimer, there’s no reason studios shouldn’t see India as a prime market for premieres and festivals,” Bijli said, optimistic about India’s emergence as a global cinema hub.
