NueGo, India’s largest intercity electric bus service operated by GreenCell Mobility, has successfully trained over 3,000 coach captains and 400 coach hosts through its specialized electric vehicle (EV) training program. The initiative aims to bridge the skill gap in the country’s growing electric mobility sector and ensure safe, efficient, and customer-focused operations.
Currently, NueGo operates a fleet of over 300 electric buses, connecting more than 100 cities across India. Each bus can travel over 250 kilometers on a single charge and undergoes 25 safety checks covering mechanical and electrical systems before each journey.
The EV training program spans one week and combines classroom sessions, simulator-based learning, and hands-on driving practice. The structured curriculum includes 11 modules, with eight focused on defensive driving techniques and three on customer service and vehicle familiarization.
Technical topics covered include regenerative braking, battery-efficient driving, and charging infrastructure protocols. A key emphasis is placed on high-voltage system safety and passenger experience enhancement, ensuring drivers are well-equipped to operate EVs and engage with customers effectively.
Training sessions are held at NueGo depots in Delhi, Indore, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai, led by in-house experts. To maintain high operational standards, refresher training every three months is mandatory, covering blind spot awareness, reversing, and parking techniques.
NueGo parent company, GreenCell Mobility, was founded by Eversource Capital, one of India’s leading climate-focused investment firms. The company is building an Electric Mobility-as-a-Service (eMaaS) platform, focusing on shared transportation, charging infrastructure, and ecosystem development for electric mobility.
This comprehensive training initiative not only supports India’s transition to electric transportation but also reinforces NueGo commitment to safety, punctuality, and service excellence on intercity electric routes.
