Nestlé India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) to accelerate its investments in India's food processing sector, the company announced on Tuesday.
The MoU was signed during the World Food India Summit and aims to fast-track both greenfield and brownfield projects in Odisha and other existing manufacturing locations over the next 2 to 3 years, Nestlé India said in a statement.
“This MoU will not only help speed up our investments but also create significant direct and indirect employment opportunities,” said Manish Tiwary, Chairman and Managing Director of Nestlé India. He added that the agreement reaffirms the company’s long-term commitment to “India’s growth story.”
The announcement comes as part of Nestlé’s previously declared plan to invest ₹5,000 crore in India by 2025. The company is scaling up capacity and capabilities by expanding product lines at its existing facilities and establishing a new factory in Sanand, Gujarat, focused on confectionery, prepared dishes, and cooking aids.
Nestlé is also preparing to launch its tenth manufacturing facility in Odisha, further deepening its footprint in India’s food production landscape.
India continues to be a critical market for the Swiss FMCG giant. It is the largest global market for MAGGI and ranks as the second-largest market for Nestlé’s Out-of-Home business in the Asia, Oceania, and Africa region. In FY 2024–25, Nestlé India reported revenues of ₹20,202.56 crore.
