Carvel, the U.S.-based soft serve ice cream brand with over 90 years of heritage, is set to launch its first store in India on October 4, 2025, in Connaught Place, New Delhi. The entry marks a significant step in the brand’s global expansion strategy, in partnership with Unify Foodworks.
Located in the prominent L Block of Outer Circle, the flagship store will feature Carvel’s signature offerings, including Flying Saucers®, Shakes, Carvelanches®, and Dashers®, alongside a range of India-specific products developed to suit local preferences. These include the Gulab Jamun Lava Sundae, Mango Soft Serve, Filter Coffee Dasher, Cassata Dasher, and other regionally inspired variations.
The outlet has been designed with a modern, accessible layout and will offer dine-in, takeaway, and grab-and-go options. A freezer stocked with pre-packaged novelties will also be available. Operating daily from 12 PM to 12 AM, the store aims to cater to a broad customer base, including students, working professionals, and families. Pricing for products starts at ₹79.
Strategic Growth and Market Relevance
"India enjoys desserts like no other country, and that makes it a natural fit for Carvel," said Steven Yang, Senior Vice President, APAC at GoTo Foods, Carvel's parent company. "We’re entering a dynamic food market with a brand that has been part of family celebrations in the U.S. for generations."
Sumer Sethi, Founder of Unify Foodworks, emphasized the strategic significance of the launch. “Bringing Carvel to India represents not only an expansion of a global brand but also an integration of international expertise with India’s rich dessert culture. We are confident that this blend of legacy and localisation will resonate well with Indian consumers.”
Employment and Expansion Plans
As part of its India growth strategy, Carvel has announced plans to create over 1,000 direct jobs across major cities in the country. Additional outlets are expected to follow in key urban markets as the brand scales its operations.
To commemorate the store opening, the first 20 customers on launch day will receive a complimentary gift, as part of an introductory promotional campaign.
Carvel’s entry into India represents a noteworthy development in the premium dessert category, blending global standards with local relevance in one of the world's most rapidly evolving food service markets.
