Ahmedabad-based electric mobility startup Matter has launched its flagship electric motorcycle, the Aera, in New Delhi. Priced at an introductory ₹1,93,826 (ex-showroom), the Aera is now open for bookings via the company’s official website, ahead of the festive season.

Entirely designed and manufactured in India, the Aera is being promoted as India’s first geared electric motorcycle, equipped with Matter’s proprietary 4-speed HyperShift manual transmission. This feature aims to offer riders the traditional manual biking experience within an electric framework. Combined with three ride modes, the Aera provides 12 unique riding combinations.

The motorcycle is powered by a 5kWh liquid-cooled battery specially designed for Indian roads and climate. It comes with an IP67 rating and delivers a certified IDC range of up to 172 km. The Aera can accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in just 2.8 seconds, making it a strong performer in urban conditions.

Key features include a 7-inch touchscreen dashboard offering navigation, ride statistics, music control, and over-the-air (OTA) updates. The bike is also equipped with dual disc brakes with ABS, a dual suspension system, and smart park assist for improved safety and convenience.

Additional tech includes keyless operation via a smart key and the MatterVerse mobile application, which allows users to access ride analytics, remote lock/unlock, live tracking, and geo-fencing. The company claims an ultra-low running cost of 25 paise per kilometre, estimating savings of up to ₹1 lakh over three years of city riding.

Arun Pratap Singh, Co-Founder and Group COO of Matter, said, “Delhi represents a major opportunity for electric mobility. The Aera is tailored for urban riders seeking a blend of performance, innovation, and cost-efficiency.”

Founded in 2019, Matter employs over 600 professionals and has filed more than 350 patents, with 75 already granted. The company's innovation spans powertrain systems, gearboxes, liquid cooling technologies, battery management, and manufacturing automation—furthering its vision of building a self-reliant electric mobility ecosystem in India.
