New Delhi-based intercity electric bus operator LeafyBus has secured an investment of USD 4.1 million (approx. ₹34 crore) from Enetra India Pvt. Ltd., backed by Singapore’s Impact Capital Asia Management (ICAM). With this funding, the company aims to expand its fleet from the current 10 buses to over 100 within the next 18–24 months.
LeafyBus currently operates India’s first intercity electric bus service powered by the country’s first 360 kW fast-charging station. At present, it runs three daily trips on the Delhi-Dehradun route, covering nearly 900 km in 24 hours.
Following the fresh investment, LeafyBus plans to deploy its premium e-buses on high-demand routes such as Agra, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Amritsar, and Patna. Route selection will be based on passenger demand and charging infrastructure readiness. Additionally, the company will invest in automated trip planning, bus allocation optimization, and real-time performance monitoring to improve operations.
Speaking about the development, Rohan Dewan, Founder & CEO of LeafyBus, said: “India’s intercity transport system is on the brink of transformation. Long-distance e-mobility is not just about cutting emissions—it’s about building a safe, reliable, and comfortable travel experience. Our Delhi-Dehradun success proves what’s possible when technology and infrastructure work hand in hand.”
Co-founder Animesh Sharma added, “Expanding intercity e-bus services comes with challenges—from route planning to charging management and ensuring fleet reliability. With this funding, we aim to improve fleet management, real-time passenger communication, and predictive maintenance to make intercity EV travel dependable and accessible.”
Commenting on the investment, Neeraj Gupta, Founder & MD of Enetra India, said: “Electric mobility is critical to reducing the environmental footprint of India’s transport sector. LeafyBus’s careful execution and passenger-centric approach align with our vision of sustainable mobility, and we are proud to support their journey.”
LeafyBus operates premium, fully electric, air-conditioned buses equipped with safety features such as dedicated helplines, panic buttons, reserved seating for women, ADAS, DMS, and alcohol detection systems. The company has also partnered with JBM Electric Vehicles for the supply of 200 buses and secured financing for its first fleet through AMU.
