Hyundai CRETA dominated the Indian automobile market in March 2025 with 18,059 units sold, claiming the title of India’s highest-selling SUV. The SUV continued its strong performance in the Q4 FY 2024-25 (January–March) with 52,898 units sold, maintaining its leadership in the segment.
In FY 2024-25, the CRETA recorded 1,94,871 unit sales, reflecting a 20% annual growth compared to the previous fiscal year. This robust performance placed CRETA as the third highest-selling passenger vehicle in the country. Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) credited this achievement to the model’s sustained popularity and demand among Indian customers.
Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and COO of Hyundai Motor India, stated, “The Hyundai CRETA continues to build a strong emotional connect with Indian customers. Becoming the best-selling model in March 2025 is a testament to its benchmark-setting presence in the SUV segment.”
The SUV’s growing appeal has increased the SUV share in HMIL’s total sales from 63.2% in FY 2023-24 to 68.5% in FY 2024-25. Its electric variant has expanded the model’s reach and reflects Hyundai’s commitment to sustainable mobility. Launched in 2015, the Hyundai CRETA has sold over 1.2 million units in India and evolved through multiple generations with updated technologies and powertrain options, further solidifying Hyundai’s leadership in the SUV market.
