Flipkart's logistics arm, Ekart, has opened its logistics infrastructure to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), direct to consumer (D2C) brands and large enterprises, marking a strategic expansion beyond its traditional role of servicing the ecommerce marketplace, as shared by the brand on social media.
As part of the initiative, Ekart has introduced a franchise based logistics model with more than 300 outlets already operational across Surat, Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru. The company plans to scale the network to over 1,000 franchise outlets by the end of 2026, significantly expanding its last mile reach and business services.
Businesses using the platform will gain access to more than one million square feet of warehousing infrastructure, along with real time shipment tracking, AI powered address resolution and demand forecasting capabilities. Ekart said its logistics network currently covers more than 95 percent of India's pincodes, enabling businesses to serve customers across the country.
"The expansion through franchises and dedicated fulfilment capabilities is aimed at giving businesses of all sizes access to a national logistics network," said Mani Bhushan, Chief Business Officer, Ekart.
The move reflects the growing demand for integrated logistics solutions as India's ecommerce ecosystem expands and more brands adopt omnichannel and direct to consumer business models. By opening its network to external businesses, Ekart aims to strengthen its position in the third party logistics market while supporting faster and more efficient fulfilment for enterprises across sectors.
