Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Singh held a detailed discussion with a Norwegian delegation on electric vehicle (EV) policy and adoption. Both sides agreed to exchange knowledge and share best practices to strengthen EV adoption models.
The meeting covered a wide range of issues including EV technology, adoption frameworks, and public transport solutions. The Norwegian think-tank delegation appreciated the Delhi Electric Vehicle Initiative (DEVI) buses, noting that the 9-metre electric buses are particularly well-suited for last-mile connectivity and offer convenience to passengers.
Singh said that the Norwegian team showed keen interest in Delhi’s EV policy and bus operations model. The visiting delegation also shared insights from Norway’s EV journey, covering interventions such as charging infrastructure, integration with public transport, and parking management.
Notably, Delhi’s DEVI buses are equipped with advanced features including CCTV cameras, live tracking, panic buttons, motorised ramps for passengers with disabilities, and retractable low-floor steps, making them highly commuter-friendly.
