Kia Motors has officially released a teaser video of its upcoming electric MPV, the Carens Clavis EV, revealing key exterior and interior elements. The EV’s price will be announced on July 15, and it’s expected to rival models like the BYD e6 Max 7 in the Indian market.
The biggest highlight of the Carens Clavis EV is its claimed range of 490km on a single charge. It is expected to share its 51.4kWh long-range battery with the Hyundai Creta Electric, delivering 17km more range than the Creta EV. Power output is likely to include a 171hp/255Nm front axle electric motor.
On the outside, the EV variant receives subtle design tweaks such as a revised front bumper, aero-efficient dual-tone alloy wheels, a charging socket placed on the nose, and ice-cube LED fog lamps with a silver garnish below the charging flap.
Inside, the gear lever has been removed, making way for a new floating center console with expanded storage, a wireless charging pad, and revised control buttons. The twin 12.3-inch screens remain, but the color scheme has been refreshed to suit the EV’s identity.
Currently, the Carens Clavis EV is showcased in a 7-seater configuration. It remains to be seen whether a 6-seater option will be introduced, as available in the ICE version.
Pricing is expected to fall in the same bracket as the Hyundai Creta Electric, ranging from ₹17.99 lakh to ₹24.38 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a compelling option in the growing electric MPV segment.
