Indian electric vehicle manufacturer Ather Energy Limited has launched its new 2025 Ather 450X electric scooter in Sri Lanka, marking its second international market after Nepal. The scooter will be available across 19 Experience Centres operated by national distributor Evolution Auto Pvt. Ltd. Ather first entered Sri Lanka in December 2024 with the original 450X model and has since developed EV charging infrastructure in the country.
Speaking at the launch, Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, said Sri Lanka has always been a strong scooter market and the response to the Ather 450X since last year has been exceptional. He added that the company has rapidly expanded its distribution to 19 stores across the country to meet growing demand and make its products more accessible.
The new 2025 Ather 450X comes with several upgrades, including a multi-mode traction control system with Rain, Road, and Rally modes, an improved TrueRange technology, and multi-compound tyres developed with MRF for enhanced grip, efficiency, and range. These features make the scooter more efficient, safe, and suitable for Sri Lanka’s riding conditions.
Ather began its international journey in November 2023 with operations in Nepal, where it now has 9 Experience Centres and recently launched the Rizta family scooter. In India, the company operates 446 Experience Centres along with around 3,997 fast and neighbourhood chargers. Founded in 2013 by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain, Ather has installed 4,032 charging stations globally as of June 30, 2025, including 35 across Nepal and Sri Lanka.
