Ampere, the electric two-wheeler brand under Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML), has launched its latest low-speed electric scooter, the Reo 80, on Wednesday. Priced at ₹59,900, the Reo 80 is targeted at users looking for affordable and easy-to-ride EVs. With a top speed under 25 kmph, the scooter does not require a driving license or registration for use in India.
The Reo 80 is packed with modern features such as a colored LCD display, LFP battery technology, front disc brake, and keyless start. It offers a range of up to 80 kilometers on a single charge and is available in black, red, blue, and white colors, all with alloy wheels.
According to company officials, deliveries will begin across India this month. K. Vijaya Kumar, Executive Director & CEO of GEML, stated that the launch aligns with the company’s vision of making electric mobility accessible across India, particularly for new riders.
India’s electric two-wheeler segment is seeing rapid growth, especially among students, senior citizens, and first-time riders for short city commutes. Greaves Electric Mobility recorded a 52% month-on-month sales increase in March 2025, selling over 6,000 units. Its parent company, Greaves Cotton Limited, has been transitioning from diesel engine manufacturing to becoming a multi-product mobility solutions provider.
