Amazon India announces biggest operation network expansion ahead of festive season
Amazon India has announced a major expansion of its logistics and supply chain network ahead of the festive shopping season, with plans to add 20 fulfilment centres, six sort centres and 150 delivery stations across the country.

The expansion is aimed at strengthening the company's e-commerce infrastructure and enhancing its ability to manage higher order volumes during one of the busiest shopping periods of the year. The additional facilities are expected to improve inventory storage, order processing, and last-mile delivery capabilities across multiple regions.

With the planned additions, Amazon is increasing capacity across key stages of its operations network. Fulfilment centres will support inventory storage for sellers, while sort centres will help streamline package movement between facilities. The new delivery stations are expected to strengthen last-mile logistics and improve delivery efficiency in both metropolitan and emerging markets.

The announcement comes as online retailers prepare for increased consumer spending during festive sales events. E-commerce platforms typically experience a sharp rise in demand across categories such as electronics, smartphones, fashion, beauty, home appliances and consumer goods during this period.

Amazon has continued to invest in its logistics network in India, including fulfilment infrastructure, delivery operations and quick commerce capabilities. The company recently expanded its operations network, created more than 160,000 seasonal work opportunities and increased investments in fulfilment and delivery infrastructure to support growing customer demand.

The expanded network is also expected to support Amazon's seller ecosystem by enabling faster order fulfilment and wider reach across serviceable pin codes. The company currently serves millions of customers and works with a large base of sellers across India through its fulfilment, sorting and delivery infrastructure.

As competition intensifies in India's e-commerce and quick commerce sectors, logistics capacity has become a key area of investment for online retailers. Amazon's latest expansion highlights the industry's focus on warehousing, supply chain optimisation and last-mile delivery ahead of the festive shopping season.
