Mumbai’s Bandra West has added a new Japanese dining destination with the launch of Supa San, a 110 seater Japanese izakaya from Aditya Birla New Age Hospitality (ABNAH). Located on the 14th floor of Mansionz One on Linking Road, the restaurant combines Japanese cuisine with a music led dining experience.

Supa San follows ABNAH’s “Masters of One” approach, placing music at the heart of the concept. Drawing inspiration from Japanese izakayas, listening bars, vinyl cafés, record stores and karaoke venues, the restaurant integrates music, programming and dining into a single format.

The menu features more than 100 dishes across The Counter, The Grill and The Pot, with nearly half of the offerings being vegetarian. The selection spans Japanese small plates, tempura, sushi, robata, ramen, Katsu Curry and larger format dishes. Signature offerings include Kamameshi, a Japanese rice preparation cooked to order in an iron pot, and Mazeman, a soupless ramen style.

The beverage programme extends the music focused concept through NOW PLAYING, a cocktail menu organised into five sections, from lighter serves to more spirit forward creations. Guests can also choose from zero proof beverages, Japanese teas, matcha, hojicha, cold brews and low ABV cocktails.

Designed by Patch Design Studio, the restaurant features communal dining, intimate seating areas and an open to sky alfresco section with a retractable roof. Its music focused design includes vinyl collections, curated memorabilia and The Sound Archive, an installation created with Roland featuring synthesizers, drum machines, grooveboxes and guitar pedals.

Supa San also includes a retail element, The Culture Shelf, offering merchandise such as T shirts, tote bags, caps, posters, stickers and other collectibles. The venue additionally features a private karaoke room for events, alongside a community led singing session held every Wednesday.

“At ABNAH, we see hospitality as increasingly moving beyond food and service towards creating a deeper cultural connection. With Supa San Bandra, we have taken the Japanese izakaya as a starting point and explored it through one of Japan’s most influential cultural forces - music. The concept comes from a genuine appreciation of Japan - its literature, manga, music, design and food - but the intention is not to replicate Japan. It is to interpret these cultural codes through a contemporary lens that feels relevant to Mumbai. Every element, from the culinary programme developed by chefs trained in Japanese cuisine to the music, design and programming, is designed to give guests a more considered understanding of the culture and the stories behind it. For us, Supa San is therefore not simply about serving Japanese food. It is about creating a place where food becomes an entry point into a broader cultural experience - one that can resonate with people who know and love Japan, as well as those discovering it for the first time. Bandra, with its openness to culture, creativity and new forms of socialising, felt like the natural setting for this interpretation of contemporary Japan,” said Udai Pinnali, CEO, Aditya Birla New Age Hospitality.

The new outlet marks ABNAH’s move to bring Supa San’s Japanese dining concept to Bandra, combining food and hospitality with music, curated programming and merchandise to create a broader entertainment led experience.
