Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL) and Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) have entered into a partnership to develop eight hotels with over 2,000 rooms across Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Guwahati, strengthening the airport operator’s presence in hospitality through integrated airport-city projects.
The hotels will be operated under IHCL’s Taj, Vivanta, Gateway and Ginger brands. The portfolio includes three Taj hotels, two Vivanta properties, one Gateway hotel and two Ginger hotels. Adani Airports will undertake the development, while IHCL will manage and operate the properties.
Mumbai will house a Taj hotel at Terminal 2 of the airport. Ahmedabad will have a Taj and a Vivanta property, while Lucknow will see a Vivanta and a Ginger hotel. Guwahati will have three properties: a Taj, a Gateway and a Ginger hotel.
The properties will feature accommodation, dining, meeting and event spaces, wellness and recreational facilities, catering to business travellers, transit passengers and other visitors.
The agreement aligns with Adani Airports’ broader plans to build integrated airport cities featuring hospitality, retail, entertainment, convention centres and commercial infrastructure.
In June, Adani Airport City Ltd, a subsidiary of AAHL, announced plans to develop more than 655 acres across eight airports in seven states, including nearly 440 acres in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
The first phase envisages an investment of more than INR 20,000 crore to develop around 22 million sq ft across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur and Guwahati.
“Across the world, leading airports are evolving into integrated destinations that serve as catalysts for commerce, tourism and urban growth. Our partnership with IHCL is an important step in this journey, bringing together our hospitality-led mixed-use destinations and India’s leading hospitality company to create world-class hotels across key airport cities with its brands including the iconic Taj,” said Jeet Adani, Director, Adani Airport Holdings.
He said the group aims to go beyond airport operations by creating integrated destinations that combine hospitality, business, retail and leisure, while offering an enhanced experience for passengers and visitors.
The agreement adds to IHCL’s presence across airport locations in India. “As India strengthens its position as one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets, airport-centric developments are emerging as important commercial and hospitality hubs,” said Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, IHCL.
Chhatwal said the additions will take IHCL’s portfolio to 25 hotels across its brands at major airports in India.
The agreement brings Adani Airports’ hotel partnerships to 15 properties across its airport network, reinforcing its plans to transform airports into integrated commercial and hospitality hubs.
